NEW BOAT ADDED TO TEAM

POSTED SEPTEMBER 27, 2004

The Anderson Fire Department - Technical Rescue Team recently placed Rescue 11 into service at the Anderson County Airport. Although our team does not participate in the Diving discipline, we are always called on to assist. We must borrow bass boats and put together make-shift devices to drag search cameras, map search grids, etc. The boat will also support the Swiftwater and Helicopter/Water rescue functions of the team.  We saw a definite need for a specialty boat for the rescue/recovery water ops. The boat is equipped with VHF and marine radios, GPS, depth finder, siren, lights, trolling motor and digital compass. There are future plans to add Atlantis color camera, DC TV/VCR and sonar.    Thanks to all the people that assisted with this project.

To name a few:

1)       Melton Nash – Donated boat and helped with repairs.

2)       Fred Pilgrim (ACSO Aviation) – Supplied materials and reupholstered interior of boat. Also assisted with the complete restoration.

3)       Steve Lindley (ACSO Aviation) – Installed radios, GPS, siren, emergency lights and repaired and modified electrical system.

4)       Troy’s Muffler Shop – Donated materials and built bar for light bar.

5)       Strickland Marine – Donated trolling motor.

6)       William “Doodle” Ray (County Fleet Maintenance) – Donated light bar, 130 amp alternator and batteries.

7)       Mountainview Gun and Pawn – Donated marine radio and GPS.

8)      The Rescue Team Members that unselfishly donated their time.
