Efforts to find a missing hiker in the North Carolina Mountains, have come up empty so far after two days of searching.

Thomas Lee Amburn, 51, has been missing since early Monday afternoon. Officials say he has a medical condition and does not have his medication with him.

The Red Cross is assisting searchers, who are concentrating along White Oak Mountain, off Houston Road, in the Columbus area of Polk County.

Roughly 60 people from across the Carolinas are assisting in the search effort. They've been looking on the ground, by air and searching area lakes. Crews plan to keep searching as long as there is a possibility they can find him.
