We had the opportunity to receive our Swiftwater Rescue Technician Training through three of Rescue 3 Internationals finest instructors. Our lead instructor was Bryan Tilden, assisted by Bobby Green and the legendary Slim Ray. I never realized I could work "so hard" or learn "so much" in a 30 hour week-end (and I mean a full "30 hours") All pictures are from the Nantahala Gorge.
Bryan Tilden (right), sets up a simulated strainer for our practical exercise - forward swimming over obstacles.
Bryan tried to simulate a log in the river and we had to swim over and dive under it. I think the log would have been easier.
Bobby Green (right) takes us through our practical exercise - 4 point boat and rope system.
Another of our practical exercises - tyrolean with boat on tether.

I could have got a lot more pictures while we were doing the river evolutions, but these guys wouldn't let us stop long enough to take the pictures. This is probably the best course that I've ever taken, and I've taken a lot of courses. Thanks Brian, Bobby and Slim.
